On the invitation of the NAFTSO leadership, IISC Executive Officer Mr. Kamen Penkov took part in the jubilee session on the occasion of the 10^th anniversary of the setting-up of the National Association of Commercial Safety and Security Companies (NAFTSO). The event took place on 4 November 2011 at Boyana Residence in Sofia, several days before the celebration of the professional holiday Day of Security Officers and Private Security Work marked on 11 November.

   Mr. Penkov congratulated the NAFTSO members on behalf of IISC Chairperson Mr. Petkov and the other colleagues on the IISC General Meeting and presented a congratulatory address to the Association Chair Mr. Petko Angelov. In his speech, Mr. Penkov emphasized his personal involvement and commitment to the Association's cause in the development of the private security sector in the Republic of Bulgaria as one of the founders of the idea behind the setting-up of the Association.

   The main highlight of the jubilee session was the presentation of the NAFTSO activities during the past 10 years made by NAFTSO Executive Secretary Mr. Ivan Ivanov. The thing shared included both the organization's positive role in the development of the private security industry and the problems existing in the business.

   The event was attended by the following official guests (their positions are listed as they were at the time): Vice-President of the Confederation of the European Security Services (CoESS) Mr. Villa; Deputy Minister of the Interior Mr. Vuchkov; Secretary of the Security Council with the Council of Ministers and Director of the Center for Prevention and Countering Corruption and Organized Crime Mr. Milanov; State Agency for National Security (SANS) Secretary General Mr. Georgiev; Director of Directorate General of the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) "Fire and Accident Safety and Protection of the Population" Commissar General Nikolov; Director of Directorate General "Security Police" Commissar Enev; Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality Mr. Sotirov; Secretary General of the Bulgarian Chamber of Economy Mr. Denev; Plovdiv Fair Director General Mr. Sokolov; Chairperson of the Association of Police Senior Officials Mr. Stoilov; Chairperson of the Management Board of the Alliance for a Secure Bulgaria General Petrov; officials and professors from the MoI Academy, New Bulgarian University, UNWE, Military Academy, Varna Free University; representatives of commercial banks, non-governmental organizations and media.

   19 congratulatory addresses, marks of appreciation and plaques were approved and awarded. Official addresses were made on behalf of the CoESS Board of Directors, MoI, SANS, KRIB, the Alliance for a Secure Bulgaria, the National Professional Trade Union of Safety and Security Officers with the Podkrepa [Support] Trade Union and others.

   The jubilee session was closed with the announcement of an Address by the Association members to the legislature and the executive, the non-governmental organizations, trade unions and mass media which is available on the NAFTSO website.
